Humble Roots, Powerhouse Growth
Building Since 2012
$600, a vision, and fortitude. These are the three aspects that Youtech CEO Wilbur You had when he established the company in July 2012. Without a consistent revenue stream, You and his team of two pushed through financial challenges by personally cold-calling 100 companies every day with an offer to build their websites for just $500. Ninety-nine times of 100 the proposal was rejected—but all it takes is just one.
Climbing to Success
After 3-4 months, You and his team had enough money to establish roots in Downtown Naperville—and they never looked back. Within 6 years, Youtech moved into a 6,000 square foot office and opened a second office in Scottsdale, Arizona.
From going after small businesses to signing quarter-million-dollar deals, Youtech never wavered in its commitment to treating each project and client like it’s the last. Developing websites is the bread and butter of Youtech, but programming, mobile app development, and digital marketing have grown in sophistication as Youtech has increased its national footprint.
The addition of Youtech’s Scottsdale office has been a significant milestone in entering new markets and industries and there’s more to come—Youtech is continuing the climb to success.

Told by Youtech & Associates CEO and Founder, Wilbur You
“Although it was frightening, I figured I had almost nothing to lose.”
My name is Wilbur You, I’m 27 years old, and while I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and a Master’s in Business Administration a lot of people have said that I’m too young to be doing this and I’m missing the best years of my life. But I’m here to set the record straight.
I started Youtech & Associates in June of 2012 after a month researching the marketing industry, tech trends, and contemplating if I could seriously do this thing. Prior, I had worked in Corporate America as a Marketing Director gaining experience and learning how real corporations ran. Although it was frightening, I figured I had almost nothing to lose.
It took my young instincts, drive, determination, caffeine, and a lot of cocktails to get Youtech off the ground and establish myself as a market leader in the area. At 21, I quit my job in the city, abandoned everything I used to do wrong, and decided to find and create a team that could help me do this project right. Luckily, my friend Shawn from elementary school and family friend Frank Hilgers (our current VP of IT) were willing to dive in feet first. They helped fuel the whole project, and on July 24th, Youtech & Associates was born.

“Creating something from nothing…is what I wanted to do.”
Most people don’t know that Youtech & Associates wasn’t the first business that I started. I had the itch to start a business ever since I was ten years old playing computer games. I created a game server, started selling virtual items, and eventually, I had about 15,000 active users and made about $5,000 per week. The project was shut down when I received a cease and desist letter at my parent’s home.
Creating something from nothing to make a positive difference in the world was—and still is—what I wanted to do. Everything seemed perfect when it all began. We had visions of being successful and having everything we wanted in this world. Reality set in real fast, and I realized that we had no money, no connections, and most importantly, no customers.
On a personal note, starting Youtech also saved my life. At the time, I was in a rough patch. I was struggling to define who I was, what I wanted to do, or with who I wanted to surround myself with I have always been a person that liked to be busy, working towards a goal, and making things happen. But life doesn’t work that way, and as I quickly learned, and business doesn’t work that way either. I had to learn to let go. In the end, Youtech changed my life.
“In the end, Youtech changed my life.”
“In the first couple months, we would work 80-100 hours a week.”
When Youtech started, we began looking for anyone and any project, large or small, to build our client base. Our first clients were, respectfully, the previous company I worked for, and a small equestrian company referred to us by a family member of my buddy Shawn. We were chasing $500 websites, then $1,000 websites, and it continued to snowball from there.
In the first couple of months, we would work 80-100 hours a week, day and night, to acquire new customers, advertise the Youtech name, and work towards more stable earnings. We took a leap of faith with the $2,000 we had saved up at the time to sign a lease for an office in Downtown Naperville. It was a huge risk—we had no idea if it would last, nor did we have the funds to sustain us much longer. Within a week or two after the move, however, our risk was rewarded. The phones starting ringing from other business owners who saw and heard about our work around town. Before we knew it, we had some big clients and a list of businesses waiting for our services.
It didn’t stop there. A few months later, I decided we needed to add to our team on the web development and sales sides. We hired our current Chief Operations Officer (then a graphic designer) Lauren Urban and VP of Business Development, Trent Anderson. They both bought into the vision and took risks in their careers to join Youtech. I knew I had a team that would stop at nothing until we got to where we wanted to be.

“Youtech has hired 40+ employees between two offices in Naperville and Scottsdale.”
Fast-forward 8 years. Youtech has hired 50 (and still growing) employees between two offices in Naperville, Illinois, and Scottsdale, Arizona. We have rebranded our company, our image, our services, and we now work with some of the largest companies and franchises in the United States. We came from $500 websites to million-dollar deals in a matter of five years. What I am most proud of, though, is that we’ve done it the right way and created an environment wherein everyone brings value and feels like an asset to the company.
It’s the best feeling in the world to know that Youtech has been built from nothing. We’re also immensely proud that over the years, we haven’t taken a penny from outside investors or seen a red line of debt. We completely bootstrapped this business, and have become very good at it.
Youtech was ranked in Inc. 5000 in both 2017 and 2018, Top 10 in Web Design, and Top 10 in Search Engine Optimization throughout the United States. In that time, we have become a Premier Google Partner, grown our clientele to over 600, been featured on ABC 7, Forbes, and many other publications.
